Public Should Stay Off Vine Trail Between Bothe State Park and Dunaweal Lane During Construction

This segment of the Trail is under construction and not open to the public during the paving period.

Paving of the Vine Trail section between Bothe State Park and Dunaweal Lane will begin as soon as Monday, December 19. Pedestrians and cyclists should avoid traveling through this construction area for safety reasons. It will be safe to access this Vine Trail segment when it is complete in Summer 2023.

As construction crews pave this section of the Trail, there will be significant gaps such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls that are under construction.

“We are excited to expand the popular Vine Trail up to Calistoga and understand the eagerness of the public to use the trail now, but the trail will not be officially opened to the public until summer 2023,” said NVTA Executive Director Kate Miller. “It’s because of safety concerns that we urge the public to stay clear of the trail until it opens. Weather has been cooperating so far, we are making good progress, and we appreciate the public’s patience.”

When complete, the Vine Trail will be a 47-mile-long paved and scenic trail from the Vallejo Ferry Terminal to Calistoga. Construction on the St. Helena-Calistoga segment of the Vine Trail began in July 2022.
