Fixing Roads Faster: Measure U replaces Measure T in Napa County

As of July 1, 2025, Napa County’s replacement ½-cent transportation sales tax, Measure U, officially went into effect. It will generate an estimated $25 million annually to improve local streets and roads, totaling $1.2 billion by the time the measure sunsets in 2055.

Replacing Measure T without increasing taxes, Measure U offers greater flexibility and faster project delivery by allowing for bonding. This will help the Napa Valley Transportation Authority and local jurisdictions repair potholes, improve road conditions, and tackle remaining blockades along Highway 29.

Approved by 72.8% of voters in November 2024, Measure U marks a significant investment in the region’s transportation infrastructure and long-term mobility.
